VETERINARIAN | WESTERN CAPE, Northern Suburbs

Cape Town, Western Cape

A respected and progressive small animal hospital in the sought-after Northern Suburbs of Cape Town is looking for a dedicated and professional Veterinarian to join its close-knit, highly skilled team.

About the Practice

This well-established hospital is committed to providing exceptional standards of small animal medicine and surgery, supported by an impressive range of modern diagnostic and surgical equipment. The practice offers a diverse and rewarding caseload, with facilities including:

  • Digital and dental radiography
  • Multiple endoscopes
  • Echocardiography
  • Abdominal ultrasound
  • Comprehensive in-house IDEXX laboratory
  • Dedicated facilities for soft tissue surgery and minor orthopaedic procedures
  • A newly established exotic animal division

The veterinarian will become part of a collaborative team comprising three veterinarians, two veterinary nurses, two hospital assistants, three customer relationship coordinators, and an accountant. The practice prides itself on teamwork, professional excellence and creating a positive, supportive working environment.

The Opportunity

This position offers an excellent balance between professional development and personal wellbeing. There are no after-hours duties, with patients requiring overnight or intensive care referred to nearby specialists and referral hospitals. This allows the veterinary team to focus on delivering high-quality clinical care while maintaining sustainable working hours.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified and SAVC-registered Veterinarian with approximately 2–3 years of small animal clinical experience. Newly qualified veterinarians with the right attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.

Due to the practice's diverse client base, proficiency in both English and Afrikaans is essential.

Growth & Specialisation

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who is eager to develop and advance their clinical skills. There is scope for candidates with a particular interest in medicine or surgery to further develop their expertise, while veterinarians with specialist qualifications in these areas will also find an environment where their skills can be utilised and expanded.

The recent introduction of an exotic animal division further broadens the scope of the role and provides an exciting opportunity for veterinarians interested in expanding their knowledge and experience beyond traditional small animal practice.
