An established and patient-focused optical practice is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and professional Junior Dispensing Optician to join its growing team. Working alongside an experienced Practice Manager and team of Optometrists, the successful candidate will receive ongoing guidance while becoming an integral part of the daily operation of the practice. Working Hours Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00 Weekend rotation: One weekend on, one weekend off. Staff working a weekend receive one afternoon off during the week. The role
- Dispensing spectacles following consultations with the Optometrists.
- Assisting patients in selecting frames, lenses and coatings best suited to their lifestyle and visual needs.
- Taking accurate dispensing measurements using modern technology, including VisuReal.
- Advising patients on lens options, coatings and current promotions.
- Ordering lenses through supplier platforms, including Hoya and Zeiss.
- Dispensing completed spectacles and ensuring an exceptional collection experience.
- Processing invoices, receipting and related administrative duties.
- Adjusting and repairing spectacle frames, including minor repairs and screw replacements.
- Assisting with pre-testing equipment and patient preparation.
- Providing occasional assistance in the in-house laboratory when required.
Minimum requirements
- Has a warm, bubbly personality with a welcoming smile.
- Is well presented, well spoken and enjoys working with people.
- Is a dedicated team player with excellent attention to detail.
- Is fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
- Has approximately 3 years of optical experience (preferred).
- Is eager to learn the practice's systems, procedures and high standards of patient care.
- Qualified Optical Dispenser and registerd witht he HPCSA
